It has been a while since I have written on my personal site. The silence was not because I stepped away, but because the last year has been filled with some of the most demanding work of my career. Cobalt Digital Marketing has been restructuring. RGV Dads has expanded into a true movement. My responsibilities as Vice Chair of CDCB have grown with several projects that impact families across the Rio Grande Valley. All of these roles have required focus, leadership, and discipline.
Now that things have settled into a stronger rhythm, I am ready to write again. This moment in technology deserves real conversation. Artificial intelligence is reshaping the world, and the noise surrounding it is louder than ever. As someone who has survived the dot com era, the early 2000 tech rise, the SEO panic cycles, and the social media explosion, I recognize the pattern. This AI moment feels familiar and powerful.
So let me break down everything I have been working on, why I believe we are in an AI bubble, and why I am still fully committed to building through it.
Everything I Have Been Working On
Cobalt Digital Marketing
Cobalt has been undergoing a true transformation. We have been refining internal systems, improving documentation, restructuring teams, and preparing for long term scale. We want an agency that performs with precision, not chaos. That requires a foundation built on process, clarity, and accountability. This has taken time, but it is setting us up for the next era of digital growth.
RGV Dads
RGV Dads has become something meaningful. It is more than a group. It is a community for fathers in the Valley who want to support each other, learn from each other, and show up for their families. Watching the growth of this organization has been one of the most rewarding parts of my year.
CDCB
My work as Vice Chair of CDCB continues to expand. Housing, financial stability, and community development are the backbone of strong cities. Being part of projects that truly impact families keeps me grounded. It reminds me that technology and business mean nothing unless they help real people.
Why I Believe We Are in an AI Bubble
Artificial intelligence is everywhere. Companies are racing to add AI to their products. Agencies are reinventing their service lines around it. People are asking if AI will replace developers, analysts, designers, writers, and strategists.
The truth is simple. AI will not replace experienced people. But it will expose anyone who has weak processes or weak fundamentals.
Right now the investment around AI is massive. Billions are being poured into data centers, chips, and cloud infrastructure. The New York Times recently reported that Silicon Valley is scrambling for power and compute at levels no one expected. Money is being spent before real return on investment is clear. That is exactly how bubbles behave.
I lived through this during the dot com era. Companies raised money with no real plan. Tools were created faster than the market could support. The crash exposed everything. I see the same pattern today. Many of the AI tools being created will not survive. Many of the investments being made will not pay off. But the companies that do survive will define the next decade of technology.
AI Is a Tool, Not a Crutch
The biggest mistake right now is that people believe AI can replace the hard work. They think it can replace strategy. They think it can replace fundamentals. They think it can replace real expertise. That mindset never works.
During every major shift in technology, the people who used new tools to enhance their skills were the ones who survived. The people who tried to skip steps failed. AI does not change that. AI magnifies whatever already exists. If you have strong skills, AI multiplies your ability. If you have weak skills, AI exposes them.
This is why the companies that approach AI with discipline will win. The companies that chase shortcuts will collapse.
What I Am Seeing Inside the Agency World
At Cobalt we are being intentional. We are integrating AI into our workflows, but not blindly. We are documenting every step, training our team, improving our pipelines, and building systems that make our work faster and smarter without losing quality.
AI should support the builder, not replace the builder. AI should improve the craft, not erase it. AI should give teams more insight, not less responsibility. That is the approach we are taking.
The agencies that survive this moment will be the ones that treat AI with respect, clarity and purpose. The ones who treat it as a shortcut will not last.
The Real Advantage Belongs to the Survivors
After twenty five years in technology, I have seen the same pattern repeat.
The hype grows. Everyone rushes. Money floods the market. People assume shortcuts exist. The bubble bursts or cools down. The survivors dominate.
This cycle never fails. It happened in the dot com boom. It happened during early SEO. It happened during the social media explosion. It is happening again with AI.
The people who stay calm and consistent through all the noise eventually win. That is the mindset I am taking into this next chapter. I want Cobalt positioned as a survivor. I want the RGV community educated and empowered. I want businesses to use AI in a way that strengthens them, not weakens them.
Why This Moment Has My Full Attention
Even though I believe we are in a bubble, I am more excited about technology right now than I have been in years. AI is powerful. It can enhance everything we do. It can help us build faster and smarter. It can open opportunities that were impossible even a few years ago.
But the winners will be the people who use AI responsibly. The people who combine human expertise with intelligent tools. The people who understand that AI is fuel, not the engine.
That is who I want to be. That is who I want my team to become. That is how I want to lead through this moment.
Moving Forward With More Intention
From this point forward you will see more writing from me. I want to share how we are using AI inside our operations. I want to offer insight into how businesses can leverage this moment without getting caught in the hype. I want to write for both the advanced professionals and the people who are just beginning to explore technology.
My goal is simple. More clarity. More transparency. More leadership. More execution.
I have survived every major tech cycle for the past twenty five years. I plan to survive this one too. And if I have anything to do with it, I plan to come out stronger.
AI will not replace us. The people who know how to use it will. I intend to be one of those people.
